Aside from this, the Chronograph 1's appearance remains unchanged, retaining the original 40.8 mm x 14.15 mm case size from the 1972 model. Double-sided sapphire crystal glass covers the dial and movement, while the case back is engraved with the watch's unique serial number. The knurled crown enhances the grip, while the pump pushers showcase a clean and practical design.
Familiar Features Abound
Like almost all previous Chronograph 1 swiss replica watches, this timepiece features the iconic racing-inspired matte black dial. Compared to the all-titanium Chronograph 1 with a closed caseback launched in 1975, this watch has undergone some modifications, which, as we previously mentioned, will undoubtedly delight watch enthusiasts. It's important to note that although this movement is called a "Manufacture," it's not manufactured by Porsche Design itself, nor is it produced at the new factory in Grenchen (this might be a linguistic misunderstanding). The movement vibrates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 48-hour power reserve. The movement is entirely black and engraved with a series of Porsche Design (PD) logos. Contrasting with the black are the gears, levers, jewel bearings, and ball bearings on the rotor; otherwise, the overall design is somewhat understated. Our review of the Chronograph 1 is already well-known. Of course, we're referring to the version with the steel bracelet, as we rarely experience bracelets made of other materials. Now, a leather strap is also available, but this doesn't detract from its inherent historical significance and exquisite appearance. For some, its size might be slightly large, but I believe that a racing chronograph needs a certain amount of dial space to ensure legibility. The watch feels perfectly balanced on the wrist; thanks to its titanium construction, it's hypoallergenic; and the adjustable folding clasp further enhances comfort.
However, the most crucial question is, how do these leather straps perform overall? Frankly, quite impressive! The leather is incredibly smooth to the touch, has a pleasant aroma, and features an easy-to-use folding clasp that resembles a pin buckle when closed. The strap is well-crafted and fits perfectly to the case thanks to the quick-release system.
